Hotchkiss may have attended the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus when it came to Hartford, Connecticut, in July 1944. He kept souvenirs, such as a folder of postcards of the circus' gorillas, two peanut bags, the 1944 program that was issued at all venues, and the 1946 report issues by the American National Red Cross' participation in the event that killed 168 people.
